I am in Love with Food

This is a calzone:

Look closely. It’s not just any calzone, it’s the best vegetable calzone I have ever eaten. No joke. I got this particular calzone from the local pizza parlor, which is known for its “I can’t stop eating this pizza” pizza, otherwise known as pepperoni. I swear, they must put something in the crust, because once you start eating their pizza (or calzones!), you can’t stop.
This particular calzone was loaded with eggplant, tomatoes, peppers, onions, and olives, all of which were cooked al dente, which made them all the better. Even though I polished this calzone off last night, I can’t stop thinking about it. That’s how good it was.
I’ve been thinking about introducing more vegetables into my diet, specifically organic vegetables. Kris Carr’s book Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips suggests that when you put chemical- or pesticide-laden food into your body, your body can’t focus its time on getting you healthy, and instead must focus on breaking down whatever harmful item you’re trying to digest. Also, in order to aid your body, she suggests a 100% raw/vegan diet diet of 75-80% raw/vegan foods. I’m not sure if raw and vegan are the same thing, and I don’t know how much proof she has, mainly because I’m too lazy to go look at the excellent references in her book, but it’s just a suggestion. I can’t give up meat completely (because then I would go insane), but I can certainly start chomping on more greens.
As a blatant plug for Kris Carr, whom I’ve never met, I’ll tell you that she decided to fight cancer with holistic methods, including eating healthy and exercising and meditation and all sorts of other awesome things that I don’t have the courage to try yet.
In other news, I have decided to quit playing the online game Travian. Not only do I spend a ridiculous amount of time every day obsessing over my village, I am being attacked on a regular basis, and then I stress about it. And since we all know I don’t handle stress very well, I’m quitting cold turkey. But not without giving those attackers something to worry about themselves. [Insert evil laughter here.]

hi love! Kris Carr here, thanks so much for the mention. You don’t have to give up your meat completely. But you are certainly onto it when you say add more greens. Greens are full of oxygen and oxygen is key, as well as vitamins minerals and enzymes. I actually don’t advocate a 100% raw diet, I think many people do well with about 75-80% of their diets coming from plant base sources. But the chemicals and crap- well yes, that’s just bad news. You are terrific, add a sprig of kale and zoom. Come visit my blog some time…Peace veggies and big love, kris

You’re right! I completely forgot that you don’t advocate a 100% raw diet. Sorry about that — I was just so excited about mentioning food! Thanks for the clarification and the comment, and I’ll make sure to pass along the correct information.
