The Crane Project

January 24, 2008

Last night, I made my favorite crane so far. Plain papers weren’t doing it for me anymore, so I decorated one. It was a simple pattern, but I like the way it came out:

Heart Crane

I took advantage of the morning sunlight and my boss’s tardiness to snap a few photos of my miniature work of art at the office.

I have decided to start The Crane Project, not to be confused with The Paper Crane Project. My project will be to fold cranes and leave them in ordinary places, and perhaps to take a few pictures of them if I can get away with it. I keep picturing a little kid in a grocery store finding a paper crane in the cereal aisle and being full of wonder over how something like a crane appeared there. If I found a paper crane, I’d take it home and imagine all sorts of scenarios involving it, or maybe spy on it to see who picks it up.

A project like this will keep my imagination active and my hands busy, which is a worthwhile combination. It will also keep my crane vase from overflowing. It’s getting too full to stuff any more cranes in there without crushing some of them. They are delicate, fey creatures after all.

Welcome!

You've reached the notes of a migraineur on the quest to find the things that keep me sane. If you know anything about migraines, you know the first thing to go is chocolate. I also happen to be an avid feminist with a penchant for being crafty, cooking, activism, playing the piano and writing. I started this blog to help me get rid of the weekly migraines that have been showing up in my life for the past 2+ years. Is it working? We'll see. I usually post in time for lunch on weekdays.
