Quick Side Note: Not about Nonprofits
June 14, 2008

Here’s what I was doing on my birthday. Yes, that’s me flying a kite. The kite was my birthday present (aside from the fabulous trip to York Beach, Maine), and it was a ton of fun making the kite fly. Unfortunately, due to a combination of donating blood and having a snuffly nose, I caught a fever on my birthday, which means I get to look at pictures of me and the kite instead of spending my time actually flying it outside on this beautiful weekend.
This means no Peace Vigil that’s supposed to take place this morning on the town green, no shopping for last minute Father’s Day presents, and no doing anything besides staying in bed watching old movies. In some ways, this is a blessing — I don’t often take a minute and rest. In fact, when we got home yesterday, instead of lying down because I felt so crappy, I cleaned the bathroom and went card shoping. And then I took my temperature, realized I had a low fever, and climbed into bed. So a little rest is not a bad thing. This also means no more giving blood for me. I thought I was healthy enough to resume the blood-letting process, but no. Last time, I got a migraine during the process; this time, a fever.
Well anyway, I also have time to catch up on my blogs. The people at Shapely Prose have posted another five or six blogs since I last had time to read. You should read Shapely Prose too, especially if you’re not a big fan of your body. You should also stop not being a fan of your body. Right now.

Dear Q Finder,
Nice Kite! Beautiful against that sky.. And it looks like it was a great day for flying it.
Sorry you are not feeling well. While you were missed at the Reading Peace Vigil, it’s good to see that you’re takin’ care of yourself.
Larry brought some of his cranes and handed them out to the vigil’ers with instructions to leave them all over. (see – I told you that your crane project was inspirational…)
I left one of the two he gave me while I was out on errands this afternoon… I’ll drop you a line with pics and details.
I hope you feel better soon.
Take care.
Best,
Roy.
