Wherever You Go, There You Are
I was here yesterday:
I took this picture about five minutes before Leah and I made it into the line. And holy crap was it a long line. It was so long that a stranger stopped me on the street before I crossed over and asked what the crazy crowd was there for. Why, the Bazaar Bizarre, of course.
We stood in line for perhaps 45 minutes, arriving just after they opened the doors. It was cold. And snowing. It was the first snow for us here in the North of Boston region. I didn’t expect to be standing in a slow-moving line for the majority of the snowfall, but there you have it.
When we finally made it inside, it was chaos. The Castle at Park Plaza (where the event was held) is huge on the inside, with balconies at two different levels and a high ceiling. And every square foot of the place was full of crafts or people. Not just any crafts — we’re talking crafts on crack. Instead of the inexpensive homemade novelties, these things were expensive! It was as though people had packed up their entire stores and brought them to display in a 3′x6′ area, right next to 200 other vendors doing the exact same thing. And no one could get enough of it. Leah saw a $75 silver necklace, and I (very quickly) stopped touching all the $45 makeup bags. I didn’t even bother to check out the prices on the regular sized purses. We had to fight to get close to some of the tables, but after a while, we stopped trying. What can I say? We’re both poor.
I think we spent more time in line outside than in the actual craft arena.
Once we left the joint, the line stretched even farther than it had when we wanted to get in. I couldn’t see the end of the line; it wrapped around the corner and down that block as well. I hope for their sake, the building hadn’t reached its maximum capacity limit. That would suck.

Look What I Can Do!

Look at our new pillows. They remind me of peppers. I sewed a ribbon onto this one to cover a seam, and it came out quite nicely. And now that I’ve decorated for that upcoming holiday-that-must-not-be-named, these pillows pick up the red from all over the room and it makes our house look much warmer.
It took me all of twenty minutes to make two pillows. I had purchased two squares of sample fabric for $1.00 from Fabric Place when it was going out of business, and then I sewed two squares and stuffed them with stuffing from our old pillows. Wee! I love these colors.
